LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The “Confined Space Rescue Operations” training program is designed to educate the participants in the necessary personal skills, as well as the skills necessary to actively participate as members of a confined space rescue team, in order to conduct safe and effective rescue operations from confined work spaces.
COURSE CONTENTS: (DAY ONE – Classroom)
In the classroom portion of the program students shall study the following topics with the help of a power point presentation. All students shall be provided with a copy of the Hamisco “Confined Space Rescue” Participants Manual.

Practical Training (DAY ONE)
The practical portion of the training starts on Day One following the classroom portion. In an area of level ground the participants will become familiar with the proper use, care and maintenance of the rescue equipment provided by the employer. While operating in a safe working environment participants will demonstrate the necessary skills to operate all the rescue equipment provided, in a safe and effective manner before being allowed to participate in Day Two of the practical training scenarios at the confined spaces.
Practical Training (DAY TWO)
The participants will conduct a series of on-site mock rescues using confined spaces rendered safe and using the equipment and procedures as identified by the employer. All rescue training operations shall be conducted under the strict supervision of the Hamisco approved trainer/instructor.
Program Length – 16 hours total across 2 days
STUDENT EVALUATION:
The Hamisco instructor is a certified trainer/facilitator with the Ontario Fire College and has been trained to recognize the different learning styles of the students. Students are taught using power point presentations, lectures and practical hands-on methods of instruction. Each participant is provided with a copy of the power point notes; the employer’s written rescue procedures, tactical worksheets for rescue, and copies of any rescue equipment written materials. A written test shall be conducted to ensure the participant has retained the necessary classroom information.
A practical evaluation shall be conducted throughout the training to ensure that all participants conduct safe work/rescue practices. Mock scenarios shall be conducted to ensure rescue procedures developed are being followed.
CLASS SIZE:
Classes are restricted to a maximum of twelve (12) persons per class to ensure all participants have equal opportunity for hands-on learning.
